Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a kind of wireless identification technologywhich has great potential for development, RFID tag has many advantages which lie innoncontact and long distance reading, therefore it is widely used in the area as logistics,transportation, security, tracking and asset management. With the advance in chipmanufacturing process and the decrease in production cost, RFID will be applied more andmore widely. A basic RFID system includes reader and tag. The circuit of tag is very simplecause of the low cost. Thus the reader chip should have better performance as well ashigher stability. The receiver is the key module of the reader chip, the design of the receiverwill directly determine the performance of the reader chip, the research in receiver willhave great significance.This paper firstly introduces the developments about RFID home and abroad, and thenproposes the basic principle of the RFID receiver especially for the technique of inductivelycoupled, resonance and load modulation, according to the functional requirement of thereader, given the structure of receiver. Under the new design structure, focus on themulti-standard supporting and the requirement of high sensitivity, the module of bandgap,envelope detector, amplifier&filter, and comparator has been designed and simulated. Thedesign proposal and structure has been given for the digital part for controlling thetransceiver functionality, the key technology used in design as low-power and highreliability has been introduced. At last, this paper proposes the layout of the chipset and thesimulation result. The design has been implemented with0.35um EE technology by SMIC,the receiver design fulfills the performance requirement of the international standard ofISO/IEC14443A, ISO/IEC14443B and ISO/IEC15693in all corners, realizes thefunctions to work in100mV of receive modulation voltage.
