According to the high-speed image data stream of CCD camera output, thisthesis designs an off-line multi-disk data recording system which uses FPGA asrecording controller and uses IDE hard disk as storage device. It has advantages ofthe rapid recording speed, large storage capacity, the light weight and easy toupgrade.The thesis compares several data recording systems of different structures.Based on current recording system requiring the high speed and flexibility, thesystem uses the structure of FPGA to control IDE hard disk. In-depth study of theATA interface protocol and IDE hard disk, the design uses Ultra DMA mode4totransmit. On the basis of the interface protocol, the thesis divides the function of thecontroller into several modules and particularly analyzes the each module. Aftercompilation, synthesis, placing, routing and simulation in Quartus â…ˇ, the resultsmeet the requirements of Ultra DMA mode4. Then designs the hardware, the systemselects a low-power and high performance FPGA chip (Altera, EP2C8Q208C8).Other hardware circuitry include power supply, reset generation, clock management,FPGA configuration and the interface between FPGA and hard disk. Using SignalTapâ…ˇ logic analyzer to carry out actual verification, results indicate that the design iscorrect and multi-disk data recording system based on FPGA is feasible. The burstdata transfer rate between the FPGA and the hard disk can reach63MByte/s.The work having finished in this thesis is meaningful to the data recordingsystem design on airborne equipment and radar. In the end, the thesis summarizesthe main achievements and gives some useful advice to the future work.
