The development of computer technology greatly impact on various industries,which is especially witnessed and undertaken by the PLA. The command issued byThe Central Military Committee urged the construction and development of Hi-TechInformation of the PLA. The information network is applied in organic combatcommand and in logistic support in wartime and in routine administration in peacetime.The attendance checking system of the PLA, a key part in the routineadministration, ensures necessary repose as well as highlights the strict discipline. Thepermitted absence is categorized into two types: non-scheduled leave and scheduledvacation, which are carried out differently. The conventional attendance checkingoperation often frustrates the routine administration for such weakness as redundantprocedures, unfixed approval authority, and loose record and file.Based on the theory of software engineering and techniques, the onlineattendance checking software can be formulated and optimized by the Informationnetwork technology. The pre-analysis of the procedures concludes requirements of theadministration in terms of both function and performance. The analysis of therequirements preconditions the multilevel logic frame and the data base pattern of thesoftware. The software is formulated with four modules: personnel information;absence monitor; approval procedures and system administration. With detailedanalysis and designation, the modules is presented by dynamic graphs and static maps(class diagram, sequence diagram and activity diagram etc.) that are described withunified modeling language. Deployed within Visual Studio2010, written by C#language, tested by Black Box, analyzed by the deployment, the usability of thesoftware is proved. Secondly, in the whole development and realization of thesoftware, the GOF classic design pattern ensures the scalability and maintainability ofthe software as agile software. Thirdly, the software guarantees the informationsecurity by exclusively deployed within the local area network. Fourthly, the softwareis technically supported by Silverlight and MVVM. Representing the characteristicsof Rich Internet Application, integrated the strengths of Browser/Server Mode andClient/Server Mode, Silverlight, a mainstream technology, facilitates application deployment and updating and provides a user-friendly interface and experience.Established upon Silverlight and WPF, MVVM, an open-source software (OSS)architecture project, standardizes the frame developed by Silverlight and optimizes thesoftware.The attendance checking software of the PLA, a key part of the Hi-TechInformation Construction of the PLA, is expected to prepare the construction ofadministrative management system of the PLA and thereafter has its significance.
