If the contact resistance of transmission line joints is over ranged orthe line is over loaded, the joints temperature will be beyond permission,which will cause worse insulation of joints, even be damaged. If theaccident can not be found in time, power cutting or fire may be brought.A new on line monitoring system of transmission line jointstemperature based on ZigBee technology is developed. The principle andstructure of the system are first introduced. Then the hardware andsoftware structure and implementation of the monitoring terminal aredepicted in detail. As to hardware, the design and implementation foreach sub-system are introduced, including main-control sub-system,power supply sub-system, data collecting sub-system, ZigBee sub-system,GSM(Global System for Mobile Communications) transmissionsub-system, and real-clock sub-system. As to software, after the wholeflow for the coordinator and terminal node is introduced, each modulesuch as power management, data measurement, GSM transmission andreal clock realization is illustrated in detail.According to the demand for joints monitoring, the ZigBeeapplication layer stack is developed. The realization flows for the maintasks(e.g. the terminal node sending address, the coordinator requestingdata, the coordinator sending script and real time) are designedrespectively. The network establishment and data transmission are alsodepicted.Power consumption testing is implemented, and the method todecrease it is put forward. High voltage and big current testing is alsoconducted, and the results show that the system is of well performance.
