Wireless sensor network is a popular research field, and it is applied widely inmany industries. In many applications, the real-time is one of the important signsfor measuring the performance of wireless sensor network. In wireless sensornetwork, the main purpose of real-time routing protocol is to reduce the networkenergy consumption and prolong the network life under the premise of ensuring thereal-time transmission of data. According to the background of real-timeapplication, designing energy-efficient routing protocols is the key research pointof wireless sensor network real-time routing protocols. This thesis focuses on the real-time routing protocols in wireless sensornetwork. In the real-time applications of wireless sensor network, how to ensure thereal-time transmission of data and minimize the network energy consumption is ahuge challenge to the design of the real-time routing protocol. Based on theanalysis and summary of the existing real-time routing protocols, this thesisproposes a cross-layer-based adaptive real-time routing protocol, ARRP whichcombined with the idea of cross-layer design. This protocol can realize thecooperative work of different layers and reduces data transmission delay and thenetwork energy consumption through the cross-layer information interaction ofdifferent layers. In addition, the technology of power control significantlyinfluences the real-time and energy efficiency of wireless sensor network. So, it isone of the effective methods to solve the contradiction between the real-time andenergy efficiency of wireless sensor network. Based on the existing wireless sensornetwork power control algorithm and real-time routing protocol, this thesisproposes a power-control-based real-time routing protocol, PCBRRP. The protocolimproves the energy efficiency of the node through dynamically adjusting nodes’transmission power. And this protocol ensures the real-time transmission ofend-to-end data and reduces the network energy consumption throughco-considering the quality of communication link and the residual energy of node tochoose the forwarding node.At last, this thesis uses simulation tools, NS2for simulation of the ARRP andPCBRRP protocols, which are compared with other real-time routing protocols. Theexperimental results show that the two proposed routing protocols are good at real-time and energy efficiency.
