With the increasing of ocean exploitation and underwater detection, the research of highresolution imaging sonar has becoming more and more important. At present, there are mainlytwo kinds of high-resolution imaging sonar. One is the high-resolution imaging sonar usingelectronic circuits for beamforming. This kind of sonar is usually in large size, with highpower consumption and low image update rate. The other is lens imaging sonar using acousticlenses for beamforming, which has advantages of small size, low power consumption andhigh image update rate.In this paper, the principle of high-resolution lens imaging sonar has been researched,based on which the digital signal processing system of lens imaging sonar is designed. It isprepared for the lens imaging sonar which has small size, low power consumption and highimage update rate in underwater applications.First of all, this paper introduces the scheme design and index demonstration for thedigital signal processing system of lens imaging sonar. Secondly, it describes the hardwareand software designs of the digital signal processing system, including that of both theacquisition and control board. The hardware designs of acquisition board include the designsof FPGA configuration circuit, A/D conversion circuit, SDRAM control circuit and LVDStransmission circuit. While the software designs include the designs of A/D control module,SDRAM control module, FIFO module, envelope detector module and LVDS module. Thehardware designs of control board include the designs of FPGA configuration circuit,RS-232serial interface circuit, W5100driver circuit and PC/104bus expansion circuit. Andthe software designs include the designs of LVDS module, FIFO module, serialcommunication module and W5100Control Module.Finally, this paper describes the debugging of acquisition board and control board andsystem debugging. From the results, the system can work properly and stably, achieved theintended function.
