With the rapid development of world economy and increasingly frequent of internationaltrade, the container has become the important carrier in the transport process. Informationconstruction lag and information integration is not enough in the internal of the Customs areincreasingly acute in the serious situation of which container transportation soars and containersare concealed and falsely reported, which seriously hinders the normal work of officers. How tostudy and develop an efficient container monitoring system for the Customs with fullyintegrating original legacy systems to improve work efficiency of officers, is important researchsubject which needs to be urgently explored and further studied at present.According to the current dilemma that the Customs faces, new technique which is called theInternet of things (Iot) is introduced, e.g. RFID. With the combination of RFID and traditionalcontainer monitoring, a container monitoring system based Iot for Customs is designed andimplemented to solve a series of problems of the internal Customs. The main work and results inthis thesis are as follows:1. On consulting a large number of literature and on-the-spot investigations, the presentstatus of Iot and container monitoring based Iot is analyzed. It determines to use RFID, as well asJava EE software development techniques through discussing the key technologies of systeminvolved.2. The feasibility of developing container monitoring system based Iot for Customs isfurther discussed and the actual system requirement is comprehensively analyzed throughfunctional requirement and performance.3. The designing ideas and goals of system are proposed, and the whole system designprocess in detail is discussed from the networked structure design, hardware platform design andsoftware platform design. In particular, the anti-collision algorithm, software architecture as wellas specific functional modules involved in system are also detailed explained.4. The whole container monitoring system is developed and implemented.At present, the system is working normally in the Customs as well as reflected good byofficers. The implementation of this topic can be a solid foundation for further deepening of the Customs internal reforms while reducing officers’ mental stress and improving serviceefficiency.
