With the development of Internet, esp. emergence of web-based applicationdevelopment tools, online-training reaches an unprecedented stage. Across the onlinetraining platform, the enterprises can easily provide training to its employees scattered atdifferent places. It can greatly reduce cost and other resources. Qbank is an important partof online training platform. Through Qbank, the trainers and trainees can provide testquestions to the itembank and join the examination online. The thesis studies the ontology-based semantic search and its applications to design andfulfill an open itembank. Several parts are discussed, including the description andpresentation of knowledge of training subjects, the establishment and maintenance of thetraining subjects ontology, the analysis and decomposition of test questions, the strategy ofquestions grouping to make the examination fair and efficient, the design andimplementation of a web-based framework to integrate each part of the system. Further, theontology development tools, Protégé, Jena-based semantic search and Chinese wordsegmentation are used to settle these parts. The studies and settlement of these problemshelp to implement a more intelligent itembank system to meet the training needs ofenterprises. The thesis mainly consists of: The application and improvement of phpBB forumsystem to achieve user administration and question management. On the basis of the system,FastCGI is used to design and implement a Web-application framework to integratedifferent functional modules from different techniques. Some principles and processes aresuggested to establish enterprise’s training subjects ontology. Abstract classes and instancesare introduced by Protégé-Frames and Jena API. Based on ICTCLAS Chinese wordsegmentation, its features and functions, word segmentation module of the itembank systemis generated by using its programming interface. Question analysis and grouping strategy isdesigned and achieved by using JenaAPI-based SPARQL semantic search. The thesis designs and implements a web-based itembank system to produce aintelligent knowledge-base. And it has been applied to the enterprise internal professionalskill evaluation examination.
