In recent years, along with the development of science and technology,photoele-ctric technology and digital image processing, image measurement technology is becoming more prosperous. Compared with the traditional measuring methods, when measuring objects, the image measuring technology uses the image as a detection carrier and a way to transmit information to extract useful information to measure and evaluate characterstics geometric quantity of the measure object.The image measuring technique has always been an important research content of machine vision. As one of the feature parameters of the object, curve surface area plays an important role in computer vision, pattern recognition, multimedia technology. Through the curve surface area, we can get the individual information about an object such as size and weight etc.This paper describes the basic concepts of image measuring technology, analyzes and discusses several common calculating way of curve surface area. The calculation of curve surface area is researched on in depth. On this basis, this essay proposes a measuring method which combines CT scan and3D curve surface reconstruction. The experiments show that the curve surface area calculating method presented by this paper is reasonable. To some extent it has theoretical significance and practicality. The research work of this essay is mainly focused in the following aspects:(1) The construction of3-d curve surface by using cross section edgeIn this paper, combining advantage of surface rendering with that of volume rendering, effective region is segmented by using the principle of surface rendering, and the contour of the object is drawn directly by using the principle of volume rendering. Therefore it saves time and reduces complexity and difficulty.Through3-d curve surface construction, the image is visually more close to reality, and is facilitative for analyzing and judging the overall effect of the image.(2) The linear interpolation based on the shapeThis paper firstly finds respectively two matching points on the two adjacent layers. Then along the same direction the next two adjacent matching points are found by indexing edge points. Their centroid of these four points can be calculated. By using this method we can calculate the centroid of every quadrangle between two layers edge so as to achieve at the purpose of interpolation.(3) The surface area calculationThis paper puts forward a new kind of curve surface area measurement method which uses the thought of CT scan after researching on the advantage and disadvantage of the methods based on integral, Bezier curve surface area discrete algorithm, subpixel area measurement, and the perturbation method. Four matching points on the two adjacent cross section edges constitute a quadrangle which can be divided into two triangles. The total curve surface area can be obtained by summing all the triangles area which can be calculated by using Heron’s formula. The total curve surface area of the object can be approximately obtained when the sample interval is very small. This method can avoid the dilemma in which we must fabricate the curve surface function of the object, or Bezier curve surfaces, or face the disadvantage of possible divergence.
