Industrial Computerized Tomography(ICT) is a new imaging technology which isa combination of computer technology and radiology. To take full advantage of theapplication of industrial CT technology in reverse engineering (RE) and NonDestructive Testing (NDT), a3D Visualization System is developed.The general algorithms and development tools in the field of3D visualization areintroduced at first. As the main study object, how to obtain and express volume datawas analyzed. Based on a survey of various rendering algorithm, we compare theiradvantages and disadvantages.For the application development, OpenGL graphicsdevelopment kit is disgussed in detail.To meet demands of RE applications, the surface rendering based on industrial CTimages are introduced. MC (Marching Cubes) and MT (Marching Terahedra) algorithmwere added to software, and their principle and implementation process are discussed indetail, finally show their effect.To meet demands of NDT applications, another type core rendering algorithm,volume rendering algorithm is introduced. The realization principle and the specificimplementation process of classic Raycasting algorithm and texture mapping algorithmare studied in detail, and also show the final result.The article also makes a research about the cutting technology.The traditionalOpenGL view frustum culling about the3D model is researched firstly. Then it presentsa new clipping-plane rendering method based on texture mapping, and can show theimage of arbitary clipping.In the end, under ordinary personal computer WindowsXp environment, we adoptVisual C++6.0and OpenGL development kit to build a three-dimensional visualizationplatform. The platform achieves those visualization algorithms mentioned before, andtakes the industrial CT image serials of wheel as an example.
