The Implementation Of Residential Broadband And Wlan Converged Services

With the rapid development of data services, mobile phone users’ demand on network speed and quality has grown quickly. Traditional GPRS has been unable to meet the needs. WLAN, as an important supplementary means, is widely welcomed by users for its access convenience. China Mobile treats WLAN as an important business. Meanwhile, to attract more fixed-line users, the market of residential broadband services is also very important for China Mobile. The implementation of converged services between residential broadband and WLAN is to meet the needs of market and technology development. Before the first to launch this business, we must confirm the solution in current network.In this paper, we analyzed the development of the converged services within communication industry, and thus led to the trend of the development. Looking for the technology implementation was the most important research in this paper.This paper reviewed the basic elements of the PPPoE protocol. On the basis of this protocol it discussed the implementation process of the residential broadband. This paper also introduced China Mobile’s WLAN, and studied the WLAN business process in-depth. This work paved the way for the research of residential broadband+WLAN integration technology solutions.By analyzing the China Mobile metropolitan area network’s structure and business needs, this paper drew two kinds of residential broadband+WLAN convergration solutions. And it chose the best solution by generally compare. And then it designed in detail, pointed out the specific steps and methods to carry out the solution. We also built up the basic environments in the existing network, and verified the feasibility by specific experiments. This work has a very important significance for the converged services to achieve technology and business application.
