Research And Application Of Authentication Technology In Broadband Access Network

During the development of modem broadband technology, Ethernet has been developed speedily because of the characters of simple technology, cheap cost and high bandwidths. While its main characteristics of connection and share induce the problems of security and make it unable to offer different service to different users when Ethernet technology is employed in access network. According to this, to develop the Ethernet access authentication technology is the key part to establish the manageable and applicable network.This paper begins with development status of modern broadband access networks,then introduces three primary authentication technology in broadband access networks: PPPOE,WEB,IEEE802.1x. This paper respectively introduce realization method and speciality of three primary authentication technology,and analyses there respective advantages and disadvantages.Ethernet access authentication technology based on IEEE 802.1x standard realizes dispersive users control and centralized authentication management, eficiently eliminates the disadvantages of traditional authentication mode, and is more suitably applied in broadband Ethernet.This thesis give a systematic analysis and research of existing broadband access authentication protocols,indicating the advantages of IEEE802.1x protocol in ethernet network access authentication. Bring forward the application scheme of IEEE802.1x in broadband access networks and analyse its characteristics.According to the requirement of user authentication management of switch, intend to solve the problems of re-authentication, selection of authentication scheme, compatibleness of authentication server, accounting and security, 802.1x protocol is extended and modified.
