In recent years, with the rapid development of internet videos, getting information via internet video websites has become more and more popular, even the conventional media begin to explore the video area. Compared with the traditional long videos, the short videos are becoming the Mainstream media in the modern society because of its potential advantages in contents and other reasons. As an innovative type of communication, short videos have extensively penetrated into our daily life, influenced and changed our modes of communication and living conditions. Furthermore the rate and scale of development of the short videos means that the new era of media is coming.Primary research indicates that the development of short videos is effected by the popular culture significantly; therefore, the effects of popular clutter should be considered when we define the concept of short videos. The conception proposed in this thesis focus on the effect of popular culture and audience on the diffusion of short videos. According to the state of art of the Internet short videos, two categories of short videos could be concluded:home-made short videos by the website itself and short videos by netizen, and Then the advantages and disadvantages of the short videos are analyzed from the aspects of video maker, advertisers and audiences. The relationship between conventional TV media and the short videos are investigated in this thesis. The result shows that conventional TV media affects and complements each other. Lastly, the further and trends of short videos are forecasted from content innovative, media-oriented development, rational of value orientation and business trends.The development of short videos has great significance on media, and an attractive and popular websites, which take the short videos as its main content, has significant culture effect. That is why we select the short videos as our object for research.
