Pangang's Procurement Information System Research And Development

At present, not only the iron and steel enterprises in China but also the whole steel industry are in complicated international and domestic economic environments. It is important for Pan Gang Group Steel Vanadium and Titanium Co. Ltd.(Pan Gang) to improve the response on market changes. The developed purchasing information system is one of the most important components of manufacturing information in Pan Gang. The paper gave a review on enterprise purchase management according to the needs of Pan Gang. A business process was rebuilt to help Pan Gang to improve management. The main works of this paper are as follows:(1) The present state of the current purchase service and purchasing information system was studied in steel industry and manufacturing information. An object and roadmap of purchasing information system in Pan Gang was put forward to control purchasing process according to the strategy of Pan Gang. The system was of standardization, generation and system so as to meet the needs of information.(2) The demand analysis was carried out to optimize the purchase process to get the roadmap of system design. The functions of management, business process of this purchasing information system were gathered. The material codes of purchase were implemented in Pan Gang.(3) The system was developed based on the architecture of three tiers Browser/Server with Java J2EE technology and the platform of enterprise application integration. The technology of cluster, storage area network and redundant array of inexpensive disk were adopted to meet the requirements of store speed, safety and extensibility. The system had developed the interface of the existing NC financial systems, the equipment and materials system, the ERP system, the measuring system and the checking system.(4) A detail development plan of purchasing information system was formed according to the theories and technologies above. The modulus were designed and implemented to execute the business process. A test was given to modify and optimize the initial purchasing information system.The results of the development and the test showed that the purchasing information system in Pan Gang met the requirements with the characteristics of good flexibility, integration and extendibility. It optimized the business process of pan Gang.
