As one of the research hotspots, wireless sensor network(WSN) has a broad application future in various areas. Operating system and wireless communication protocol are the key questions which need be resolved in software designing of WSN nodes. Designing and realizing communication stack that accord with TinyOS and IEEE802.15.4standard on our own WSN nodes can promote the progress of WSN in practical applications. At present, many chip manufacturers have produced RF chips which are up to the physical channel requirements in IEEE802.15.4standard. They also provide communication APIs for up-layer application development, while these APIs are not open source. Therefore, developers can not know the details and processes of the communication.According to the actuality, a TinyOS communication stack which meets the requirements of IEEE802.15.4standard has been designed and realized based on MC13224in this dissertation. Because of the feature modularization, this communication stack can be transplanted to other chips’ platform easily.Firstly, on the basis of analysing TinyOS and IEEE802.15.4standard, the stack’s architecture which is suitable for TinyOS and convenient for transplanting to other platforms has been presented in this dissertation. Secondly, the RF drivers and service interfaces has been realized after further discussing about RF module of MC13224. Thirdly, the frame structures, function and service primitives of PHY layer and MAC layer have been designed and realized based on the concept of moudle and interface of TinyOS. Finally, the communication stack has been tested by frame loss rate in PHY layer and associate in MAC laye. The results can prove that communication stack presented in this dissertation is up to the IEEE802.15.4standard and suitable for most applications’ requirements.It is significant for realizing TinyOS communication stack on the node developed by ourselves that it has gotten rid of the shackles of the protocol stack library, researchers can develop WSN nodes suit for different application scenarios and it make development of upper protocal layer and application software convenient.
