With the progress of society, information constructions are carried out in variousfields in the society, including the catering industry. At the present time, traditionaloperation and management mode is mostly used in the domestic catering industry. Inthis mode, computers are merely used for accounting and checkout. Therefore, whatchallenge the catering industry is how to realize an efficient, secure, automated andconvenient ordering system.Based on the idea of embedded system design, the ordering system presented inthis thesis realize corporate information management for catering industry through thedata exchange between wireless networks and host computers, where advancedembedded technology and wireless communication technologies are adopted.Specifically, the system is designed and implemented as a wireless ordering systembased on ZigBee, which is one of the wireless communication technologies. In thissystem, Feiling S3C2440development boards based on the ARM9architecture are usedas terminals. And CC2430chips based on the IEEE802.15.4protocol are used aswireless transmission module.The design of this system includes two modules: the hardware design and thesoftware design. In this thesis, we focus on the latter module. Firstly, the relevantfundamental theories are introduced, including the ZigBee technology and the WindowsCE6.0embedded operating system. What are given next include the requirementanalysis of the system, the overall designing and the outline designing for each module.Afterwards, the design scheme of the system and the relevant technologies and theoriesare presented in detail. In the end, all system tests are carried out, including systemfunctional testing, testing of network topology, and simulation of wireless data.Three network topologies are presented in this system, so users can choose anytopology to build whatever wireless ordering network they need. Based on the design ofhardware and software in this system, clients can do their ordering and request variousservices conveniently via a terminal touch screen. Likewise, catering administrators canmake use of this wireless ordering system for information management, which improves management level for the catering industry and makes the management efficient, secureand reliable.
