Crystallizer is one of the most important equipment in the hot rolling ofcontinuous casting. Its quality directly affects the production efficiency. Thecrystallizer’s wide and narrow sides of the copper surface quality must be inspectedby artificial on the overhaul platform before using. In practical production, in theinfluence of the slag, friction and temperature, copper surface will have pits,scratches and other defects. If its defects are not checked out and continue to use,these will cause the billets surface quality problem, and even worse will cause thebillet shell rupture in the process of casting. Due to space constraints, in theproduction the examination of crystallizer copper plate surface quality is difficult bymanual. So the cast furnace is to be important basis to replace crystallizer.In order to change the crystallizer copper plate quality detection method, basedthe machine vision technology, an imaging system is developed to image the coppersurface, and then according to the related software, analysis and process the image,give out the defect parameters, guidance of mould copper plate replacement. Themain work of this paper is as follows:(1) Aiming at the characteristics of imaging large-format object under theconditions of small distance, determined to use the increased imaging distancemethod, and established the imaging model based on the consistent of the theorydistance and the actual object distance, so as to design the imaging system.(2) The hardware of the copper plate surface imaging system is designed.Calculated and chose the light source, a CCD camera, lens, mirror and imageacquisition. And finally detail designed the drive system.(3) Man-machine interactive defect treatment system is presented and thedefects are classified. Based on the VC++6.0, Multiple documents image processingplatform is developed and contains a variety of image processing methods, realizedthe contour extraction of copper plate image.Through the above research content, designing a surface quality detectionsystem of slab continuous casting mold copper, and it has certain applicability toimage large-format object under the conditions of small distance.
