Copper Clad Laminates is the basic material for PCB and will impact PCB performance directly. It is a key factor that there is no defect on copper clad laminates to keep the consistency of PCB preface resistance which will enhance PCB performance. Currently, online defects detection is a important process step for copper clad laminates manufacture, and manual inspection is still a popular method to find defects to most of medium and small firms. This paper is to develop a set of online defects detection system based on machine vision technology which will realize automatic inspection to copper clad laminates manufacture process and avoid disadvantages of the subjective miscarriage of justice, low efficiency and high cost etc. in manual defects inspection processes.This project has been accomplished as follows:1. To build the automatic on-line defects inspection system base on machine vision technology, then introduce the specifications and parameters of instruments and the software which is used in this system in detail.2. Expatiate the method to capture and pretreat motion image for movement copper clad laminates, then introduce the CCD working principle and image noise separates theory in detail.3. To separate and analyze the defects zone from image, then introduce image segmentation theory and forward Log _ Prewitt arithmetic operators to edge detection which is available to flatness image segmentation.4. To measure and analyze defects samples to find defect characteristic.5. Use multithreading technology to realize parallel processing to enhance system online running speed.
