Virtual reality has been extended to different areas and been used widely. VirtualTraining (Training based on virtual reality) is important applications of virtual reality inTraining, it has been widely recognized in all sectors of society, virtual training have moreadvantages than the traditional training. Traditional oilfield drilling training needs largeinvestment and long cycle and the number of training is limited. Accident can not besimulated in the traditional Training. Virtual training technology is used in the training ofoilfield drilling that can promote the rapid development of the oil companies. With thedevelopment of network technology, Web3D (Three-dimensional network technology)technology has been rapid development, Three-dimensional simulation system based on thenetwork has become a new research hotspot in virtual reality, users can browse the virtualdrilling process in the Web environment and interact with the virtual system by using virtualdrilling training system, then the purpose of the training is be reached. In order to achieve theeffect of realistic simulation, the capacity of the model will be very large virtual systemusually,it will affect the model’s storage and transmission and rendering. How to achieve theoptimization of three-dimensional scene is a major difficulty in the Web environment.Using virtual reality technology combined with oilfield drilling practices, this paperstudies and builds a Web-based virtual drilling simulation training system. This system coversthe entire drilling process, designs two training modes on the basis of related theories ofvirtual training, enhances the effect of staff training, and adds the scene roaming function.Based on analysis of the LOD-based scene optimization method, and on deficiencies of LODoptimization technology when roaming in scenes, the paper proposes a LOD-based sceneoptimized and improved method, which combines scene partitioning and scene rendering,uses range of visibility as the standard for scene portioning and scene rendering to controlscene rendering interval dynamically, further simplifies the hierarchical structure of LODmodels through sparse sampling, and calls simplified LOD models dynamically byviews-related model scheduling standards. This method can effectively improve systemoperating efficiency when applied into scene roaming.The constructed virtual training system not only covers trainings of all normal drillingoperating procedures, but also possesses good training modes. The paper combines scenepartitioning ideas and LOD models to optimize the system to satisfy requirements of sceneroaming to complex scene real-time rendering.
