The signal generator as a basic electronic test instrument,in teaching, research and production fields,has been a very wide range of applications.Along with the development of science and technology,the demand of the signal source is more and more high. Many of the traditional design of the signal generator can no longer meet the needs of the applications.In real life,the technical staff often encounter a business trip,outdoor equipment testing or go out to maintain the equipment etc.The traditional signal generator is of large size,not easy to carry,and give technical personnel’s work a lot of inconvenience.This topic focus on this point,study the signal generator of DDS technology as foundation and based on LabVIEW and DSP,it has characteristics of high signal accuracy,processing speed,good portability and easy to expand ect.ease the contradiction to a certain extent.Firstly,the paper makes a brief introduction to the system of the signal generator,analyses fuctions of the system which will be achieved,divided the design of system software into two parts from the angle of fuction:the design of software of lower-computer and upper-computer.The software design of lower-computer consist of four parts development of USB firmware,DSP and USB communication module,signal generating module and ADC module.The development of USB firmware need to configurate USB device descriptor and related users hook fuctions;DSP and USB communicaiton module realizes data transmission between CY7C68013A and DSP in slave FIFO mode;The signal generating module dicusses data format processing method of waveform parameter,analyses the AD9854relevant control word registers valuation method,realizes the design of data communicaiton between DSP and AD9854.The application design of upper-computer is also divided into two parts:the design of signal generating operation panel and the design of waveform display interface.The application design of upper-computer is based on LabVIEW.The part of signal generating operation panel explains the design idea in detail and slove the difficulty and keypoint in this part;the main job of waveform display interface is to slove the problem of data recognition between upper-computer and lower-computer. Finally,the system software is loaded into the hardware circuit system to test, analyses the performance index of the system,contrast with traditional signal generator.,the system performance is good from the test results,achieve the design purpose.
