The Research And Development Of Universities Dynamic Textbook Technology Platform

According to the lag problem of textbook content in the university, this study tries to research and develop a network platform which can make textbook update dynamically and fit for teachers ’teaching and students’ learning. The study broke through the traditional concept of the construction of textbook and merged teachers and students into the construction of textbook, which can combine the construction of textbook to the actual teaching and learning. Teachers and students are all the important roles during the process of construction of textbook, and the dynamic textbook could provide them with more appropriate teaching content. Dynamic textbook in my research refers to a network teaching platform which is based on a new generation of electronic teaching, breaks through the traditional concept of the construction of textbook, and merges teachers and students into the construction of textbook. In this platform, the textbook reflects the unprecedented openness and sharing, and truly make the textbook dynamic and generative.On the foundation of researching the connotation and the technical architecture of dynamic textbook, this study analyzed and designed the technology platform of universities dynamic textbook, then developed a Universities dynamic textbook technology platform. The platform has three important roles:authors, teachers and students. The authors are the creators of the textbooks, teachers and students are the users of textbooks. According to the textbook content which teachers and students created during the practical application, after processing information appropriately, the author of textbook adapted the textbook to the new one.The main functional modules of the platform included the following aspects:(1) creation of textbook, which means the authors of the textbook can create the information of textbook, add the chapters of textbook, add the contents of textbook; the content of textbook includes the knowledge of textbooks, the courseware of textbooks, exercises, video material, relevant materials of literature.(2) the applications of textbook, which refers to the teachers and students can apply the textbook in the platform according to the demand of teaching and learning; the applications of teachers include selection of textbook, updating the content of textbook, management of teaching plans and task; students’ applications include the learning and discussion of textbook, and recording notes, expressing their views about the content of textbooks (3) the management of textbook means the author of textbook who manage the chapters and contents of textbooks.(4) The managements of background include the management of systems, information, roles and users, the managements of users include adding users, auditing users, and switching of role.This study first analyzed the background of the research, and proposed the problems of traditional textbook and construction of university textbooks, then confirmed the purpose and significance of the study. In the second place, studied the connotation and the technical architecture of dynamic textbook; summarized the construction of university textbooks, electronic books and the foreign dynamic textbook’s research; according to the content and features of dynamic textbook, defined the concept of the dynamic textbook, put forward the model of the dynamic textbook’s construction and the process of textbook’s application.According to connotation and technical architecture of dynamic textbook, the research analyzed the processes of dynamic textbook’s construction and application and the environment of the development and runtime of platform on the foundation of analyzing the feasibility of system, functional requirements and users’ needs, and then designed the architecture of system, database and the functional modules in detail. Finally, according to the design of the system, developed and tested it.The main results of the research are establishing the technical architecture of the dynamic textbook and realizing the technology platform of universities dynamic textbook, and providing a practical platform for future universities dynamic textbook.
