With advances in technology and patient expectations of medical servicesincreased, the requirements of the anesthesiologist are also improving. Generalanesthesia is not only necessary to ensure that patients must be painless, musclerelaxation and loss of consciousness, intraoperative awareness, requirements ofnarcotic drugs also can be given accurately, to ensure that the patient is at areasonable depth of anesthesia, so it can avoid wastage of expensive narcotic drugs, reduce anesthesia recovery time and discharge time, thereby reducing health carecosts. This makes the anesthesiologist cannot give patient too much drug nor too lessduring anesthesia, and the anesthesiologist must control the process and effects ofthe anesthesia accurately. In general anesthesia, the patients’ depth of anesthesia isoften judged by virtue of the blood pressure, heart rate and other indirect indicators, relying on anesthesiologist’ experiences. But this old manner lack of an objective, quantitative means of detection. In order to ensure patient awareness in the completedisappearance of state, reaching the depth of anesthesia to avoid intraoperativeawareness and prevent anesthetic overdose, reduce complications, which will helpwake up as early as possible, save narcotic drugs and reduce medical costs, monitoring depth of anesthesia modern clinical anesthesia that urgently need tosolve the problem. For the development status of the depth of anesthesia at home and abroad, thisarticle describes the relevant indicators used to monitor depth of anesthesia.According to the actual needs of the hardware environment of the operating roomand doctors’ demand, through the integration of the relevant physiological andmedical signal real-time monitoring software, we designed a product used in theoperating room. The production of the software based on Philips the IntelliVueMonitor Series, it can transmit ECG, SPO2, an RESP and other physiologicalinformation data from the monitor to a computer via RS232, after the analysis of thesoftware calculated the Poincare plot, SSI, PVI three medical indicatorsrespectively. These indicators can reflect the status of the patient’s brain duringsurgery, anesthesia depth, and loss of body fluids such as physiological state, whichwill help doctors know about patients with objective physiological information, andthus effectively avoid the occurrence of medical malpractice during surgery toprotect patients’ lives. After the forming of the software design, we do a field test and data collection in National Taiwan University Hospital operating room. Through field tests, weimproved the performance of the software much further. Also, we collated the dataand do some analysis in this article. The data results show that the software canreflect the depth of anesthesia of the patient, and there are certain features to reflectthe loss of body fluids degree, and it has a better value with the actual results, theoutlook is very impressive.
