The hospital information construction in China has been greatly developed during the last two decades. In the past, hospital information system mainly deals with personnel, finance and property management, but now they gradually concentrate on the management of clinical treatment procedure. Therefore the development of digital operating room has become a n important factor in the value of digital hospital. One of the hot spot is on research of constructing information platform in the digital operating room. The product from abroad is comparatively mature, but extremely expensive on price and after services, they also had high demands on integration of different system, and they seldom do secondary development to adjust to workflow in local hospital, so they could not meet the needs of the digital operating room construction in our country. Some inland companies made some developments on this field but mainly on the purpose of video transmission and teaching demonstration, they are also lack of information integration and application.This article explained the status of the hospital clinical information system construction and the whole demand of the anesthesia clinical information system in recent years. Based on this explanation the article researches the application of Health Level 7 (HL7) and Web Services Technology in the Anesthesia Information System (AIMS). Which consists of software structure, basic function, operational workflow, data transmission and detailed module designs, etc.Being well designed and prepared, the AIMS had already applied in the anesthesia department of Shanghai Shuguang Hospital. With the application of Health Level 7 (HL7) and Web Services Technology, we successfully achieved the auto-data-collection on monitor devices, and the integration of AIMS and other clinical Information system. We made it possible to carry out information management on patient in/out, medical record, operation validation, patient status evaluation during the operation process. The system can do auto-record, alert and upload anesthesia data; it digitalizes all kinds of medical documents, as well as department management. Thereby we achieved the anesthesia quality control and to reduce the human errors in medical practice. After the application, the operational safety and the turnover of operating room has been dramatically raised, as well as the clinical teaching standard. The system brings the hospital significant economical advantage and social advantage.
