With the development of internet, the new media such as MSN, QQ, blog, micro blog and3G mobile phone has become a more convenient and powerful communicative medium in the ever-changing society. Henceforth, the imminent era of new media has transformed the traditional crisis transmission model, and any incident will be treated from a diversified, normalized and systemic perspective rather the traditionally isolated one. As the regulatory body of crisis transmission management, the government should make good use of the role of new media and to covey the voices of the party and the government through the new media for the purpose of achieving a smooth exchange of views between the government and the general public and timely discovering and resolving the disputes and crisis of our society. In doing so, it is hoped that a positive government image, convincing government credibility and a harmonious society can be attained.The thesis, on the basis of analyzing the features and influences of new media in crisis transmission incidents, employs the methods of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. It carries out research upon the relevant reports and surveys of the incident of "craziness for salt" of the general public which occurred between March14th2011and March19th2011. The attention rate of this incident is94.2. The paper tries to explore the strategies for handling crisis transmission and guiding public opinions by the government under the impact of new media from several perspectives namely time of transmission, principle of transmission, merger of transmission channels, controlling and guiding of transmission contents and cultivation of rational transmission.
