Spread-spectrum technology is the main orientation in the progress of wireless communication realm and it is in a wide range of application in civilian and military communication. For its prominent performance in anti-jamming, the technology of Frequency Hopping Spreading Spectrum has become a main communication means in the high-tech military. The importance of it is becoming more and more evident. The PLA has begun equipping with frequency hopping radio in recent years, but the research about it is not much.In addition, the concrete electromagnetic environment hasn’t been considered in the research of frequency hopping radio at present. Thus the research result hasn’t much actual reference value. Using the computer simulation technology as the supplementary means and considering the complex electromagnetic environment, the thesis studies the factors which influence the communication potency of frequency hopping radio.The thesis studies the structure of electromagnetic environment and analyses all sorts of possible Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) in the battle field. It also sets up the emulation model of the complex electromagnetic environment through Simulink. It quantifies and classifies electromagnetic environment according to the correlative literatures as well.About the tactical frequency hopping radio, the thesis makes comprehensive elaboration, including basic principle, technical specification and present development direction and so on. In addition, it sets up the emulation model of frequency hopping radio through Simulink. Based on this, the simulation experiment has been designed. Taking the bit error rate as the experiment target, several kinds of related digital modulation demodulation technology under the different order of complexity electromagnetic environment resistance to interference have been experimented. Through the analysis of the simulation result, it could choose the most suitable Hopping radio’s modulation demodulation way.After modulating demodulation technology and taking the Hopping radio’s simulation model as the basis, it designs a few typical frequency hopping radio examples with varied hopping frequency, hopping spectrum range and hopping band width. It then carries on the experiment under the different order of complexity’s electromagnetic environment and obtains the error rate data. Through analyzing the BER curve, it obtains the conclusion how frequency-hopping speed, frequency-hopping gap and frequency-hopping band width influence the communication potency of Hopping radio correspondence.
