The system of traffic information collecting, processing and publishing is the fastest growing area in the field of Intelligent Transport System (ITS). Reasonable road information acquisition, processing and publishing systems are in great need in many fields such as road planning, traffic monitoring, etc in face of the rapidly growing traffic demands. The ITS has been developing and popularizing rapidly in domestic large cities, but there still has a large demands for the system of the traffic information collecting, processing and publishing, while in small and medium-sized cities it develops slowly, the demands are greater.An upper-computer software in the perspective of both controlling and data processing is designed in this dissertation, which was used to control the microwave traffic detector hardware.It was realized by the Object-Oriented method in the visualized programming environment Visual C++, and based on the techniques of MFC, multithread, serial communication and database,.The major work of this paper was outlined as follows1. An unified data communication format was designed between the system and microwave traffic detector, which was used to realize the real-time reception of traffic data collected by the microwave traffic detector and complete the control functions of the hardware platform, such as the remote configuration of the operating parameters and the remote updates of the working algorithm.2. The storage of the traffic data was achieved by the using of MS SQL Server database.The statistical processing of the stored data was realized based on the ADO database access mechanism and the results was displayed in different styles of graphic.3. The modules of the database maintenance and user management was designed, which improved the integrity and security of the system. The Multi-threaded mechanism was used in all the functional modules, which saved the runtime and space of the system.This software has been used in the real road test with the microwave traffic detector. The resaults showed that the system completed all the designed functions(communication, control and data processing) and meet the needs of practical application.
