EDA is an essential tool of modern IC design, but in china, all of IC design companies use foreign EDA software, because we don’t have advanced design tools.Due to the high price of foreign software, this situation greatly increases the cost of the Chinese IC design and it is a great impediment to the development of the entire IC design. So we need an advanced and low-cost software for designers to use.One-time programmable (OTP) memory has a lower price and longer development cycle, so only a few domestic IC design companies are willing to invest on it. And the commonly used OTP memories are mostly imported from aboard. Due to the monopoly and the supplies limits of foreign companies, it is urgent for us to develop our own semiconductor memory to fill the gap in Chinese IC industry.The purpose of this paper is to use the domestic EDA software to design an8bit OTP memory chip. The paper firstly describes the development of EDA tools and memories followed by detail description of Empyrean’s EDA software system. And then based on the structure of the memory circuits, the Empyrean’s EDA software is used to design the memory circuits, including decoder circuit, the memory cell array, programm circuit, the readout circuit, the sense amplifier. After that the simulation is completed. On Empyrean full custom IC design platform, the physical implementation of the chip is completed, and the layout is verified. Finally the gds file is successfully submitted to the foundries.
