Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is one of the non-contactautomatic identification technologies, which has been widely applied in logistics, medical, retail business, transportation, etc. However, as the rapid development andwide application of the technology, the increasing amount of data has resulted in heavyburden for interaction of RFID system. Meanwhile, the diversity and difference oftransmission modes and the data types of original tag, resulted from the lack of uniformstandard for RFID system and corresponding interfaces between the components, hasseriously restricted performance of data interaction and processing in system interfaces.Additionally, considering the highly sensitive nature of the tag data and the importanceof quality of service (QoS), the security of system can not be overlooked. Based onthese questions and the application requirements, this thesis designed and implementedthe RFID middleware system based on Application Level Events (ALE) specification.Through analyzing and studying the typical domestic and international RFIDmiddleware framework, this thesis proposed a general framework of the RFIDmiddleware system based on ALE specification and designed its function modules.Specifically, it consists of edge processing layer and event handling layer. The maincontent of the research and design in this thesis is as follows:1. Define a set of Application Program Interface (API) for the interaction betweenRFID middleware system and hardware. By using the dynamic database technology, thedesign achieved adaptation and compatibility between the middleware and readers fromdifferent manufacturers.2. Research and realize the interaction between the middleware system andapplication systems. By using the Web Services technology and the ALE-definedinterface specification, the middleware system can interact with all kinds of enterpriseinformation systems to achieve seamless connectivity.3. Realize the processing mechanism for event flow. Through research about thecurrent data processing technologies, the processing mechanism is achieved byextending ALE data processing rules and using the Complex Event Processing (CEP) technology.4. According to the analysis and research of existing redundant filtering algorithm, this thesis proposed a new type of redundancy filtering method. Through verification, itcan not only quickly filter out duplication data, but also remove occasional tag dataefficiently. Based on the redundancy filtering method, this thesis also proposed amethod to monitor reader status, which can reduce the burden on the network.5. Through analysis of existing security mechanism, this thesis loosely coupleddata security into the middleware system so that the system can not only ensure thenormal operation of the system, but also the integrity, authenticity and confidentiality ofthe original data flow and the event flow. Finally, RFID middleware system is implemented on the.NET platform. Thetesting results show that functionalities of the RFID middleware meet the designrequirements.
