The LXI pluse generator belongs to LXI Class B instruments. It is a generalpurpose test signal source, which can produce two types of signals: single pulse andgroup of pulse. The parameters of the signals can be controlled continuously, such aspulse width, level range and repetition frequency. The pulse signal have satisfied thedemand for noise margin test of digital instruments,as well as the excitation signalsrequired during the initial designs of VLSI and RF system. With the continuousdevelopment of the instrument network, LXI is widely used as a new generation ofmeasuring instrument bus in the instrument industry. It is easy for the test functionmodule to assemble distributed testing system and form hybrid test system. Thoseadvantages can provide flexible solutions for testing the long span, complex test object.The application of the software development process based on the Windows CE5.0system is elaborated, and LXI pulse generator software framework is proposed.Otherwise, instrument software development is completed. In the end, some key issuesof the effective solutions in the process of development are described and solved. Themain content of the work includes:(1) Local control software. According to the specific requirements of theinstrument, the general design of the software solutions is proposed. The developmentprocess of the application program under EVC is described. The modules of localcontrol software includes HCI module, message processing module, mode settingmodule and channel setting module;(2) Network control software. According to the requirements of the LXI standard,in the form of remote access homepage and configuration web, data collecting, datatransmission and data parse is completed.(3) According to the requirements of the LXI standard and the instrument driverstandard of IVI arbitrary wave generators, hardware control driver files under IVI andVISA are designed.The result of the online debugging verifies LXI pulse generator can generate allkinds of expected signals, and the various functional modules of the software can achieve the desired goals.
