With the development of science and technology, the computer room is playing an increasingly important role in high education. The expanding of university computer room in resent years can't keep pace with demand of increasing numbers of users, which has presented new challenges to network management. Meanwhile traditional pattern of management can't accommodate developing of university computer room, yet network monitoring system could solve the problems in effect.The total number of computers has exceeded 1,000 in our university, distributed among every computer room. During experiment courses, many students use computers to do things against management rules, such as playing games, chatting online, and watching movies. Traditional mode of manual inspection management is inefficiency in meeting requirements of such scale computer room. In this paper, we designed and developed the network monitoring and management system based on logic three tiered B/S architecture model, by using Windows system programming, SQL server and ASP technology. Room management and maintenance of the problems encountered and solutions put forward several proposals, which could effectively improve the administrative efficiency of computer room and economize on human and teaching resources. The work and results of this research are as follows:1. We introduced the system development and the key technologies involved in development tools.2. We analyzed the situation and the university computer room management functional requirements, and described the monitoring system of the two modules, Data Management and Network Monitoring Module.3. The database was designed by using SQL server, based on Data Management Module, which completed application and Web site design and implementation.4. The design based on Network Monitoring Module, by using Windows system programming, network programming, and image compression encoding and decoding technology, could achieve the end of the room license certification process automatic control, remote screen control, remote information sending and remote log monitoring, while optimize system performance.5. In this paper, the design of a network for university room monitoring and management system could effectively solve some of the previous room management problems, and improve management efficiency. Subsequent development of the system could be connected to access control systems. Further network access control capabilities and limitations could also be achieved.
