China has so far to go in building energy conservation for its nearly40billion squaremeters of buildings. And one of the challenges is that we can’t obtain whole information ofbuilding energy consumption, which will give rise to serious deviation of the estimation ofenergy-saving effect.This paper first analyzed the status quo of China’s building energy consumptionmonitoring, and pointed out some problems of the energy consumption monitoring from theangle of data communication. In order to get more precise, more scientific, more systematicanalysis result, we need to monitor the energy consumption of different types of equipment,which includes not only traditional power table but also PLC, DCS and other industrialcontrol systems. For this, the communication complexity and cost of data will increase. Atthe same time, in order to realize remote real-time monitoring by internet or LAN, we alsoneed to solve the problem of remote data transmission. To solve these problems, this paperpropose a whole system framework design and communication solutions based on OPCtechnology. Base on the OPC Data Access specification3.0, the overall design of the OPCXML-DA server is proposed. Finally, the OPC XML-DA server and engineering examplesbased on OPC technology are realized by VC++6.0development tools. The results showthat the OPC XML-DA server can complete the local field data acquisition and remote datacommunication.
