The Exploration Of The AIDS Coverage In Professional Newspaper About Health

AIDS is not only a medical problem, but also economic and social issues. The fightagainst AIDS, is not only to deal with the virus, but also to face some of the concepts relatedto the disease, such as cultural values, social taboos, stigma and discrimination. The massmedia play an important role in this complicated fight."Health Times", as an influentialprofessional newspaper about health, is maintaining a focus on AIDS since its foundation.There are215AIDS-related coverage in "Health Times" since it founded in2000. Thisresearch was conducted by the view of content analysis and text analysis on the basis of the215samples, trying to summarize the achievements it gained to set a positive example toother newspapers and media; and also to identify the deficiencies in the coverage and putforward suggestions, for the purpose of helping the newspaper make greater contribution tothe public career of AIDS prevention.This paper mainly divided into six chapters. In the first part of the article, it introducedthe background, purpose and significance of the research; the second part summarized thedomestic and international research profile of AIDS coverage systematically; in the thirdchapter of the study, the methodology and design of the research were briefly introduced; inchapter4, the paper showed the course of content analysis and text analysis in detail;according to the above data statistics and text analysis, the fifth chapter concluded theadvantages and deficiencies of the AIDS coverage in “Health Times” during the past elevenyears; and in the last part of the paper, combined with the characteristics of the “HealthTimes” and other media related condition, the paper put forward the improvement path of theAIDS coverage.
