As a result of the powerful computing function and the special structure of software and hardware, digital signal processor has been widely applied in video image processing. As an important technology in the fields of video conference, remote video surveillance and industrial automatic control, video capture and video transmission system has been developed rapidly in recent years. In order to meet the special demands of petroleum exploration, this thesis describes a DSP based multi channel video image collection and transmission system, which can monitor the condition of petroleum pipeline in the wells in real time. The main contents are as follows:Studying the video codec technology and video capture algorithm deeply, comparing two types of image sensors, CMOS and CCD, in technical characteristics and performance, we choose the CCD camera according to the situationof the scene.The thesis describes the overall design and concrete realizing project of video image acquisition system. It gives a hardware circuit design of video image acquisition system which is based on the DSP chip TMS320DM642, and builds the system with the approach of module, which is pieced in three parts:Video image acquisition module, memory modules and network module. Focusing on the video input and output interface circuit of video capture unit design, this article also presents the optimal designs of DSP peripheral circuit the source module circuit, the system clock module circuit and external storage circuitwhich is based on the characteristics of TMS320DM642.The system applies DSP/BIOS, an embedded real-time operating system, to dispatch the threads. Based on the TI Class-driver/Mini-driver model, we design a video capture driver for the video capture platform. Using NDK (Network Development Kit) to complete the network communications and network applications design, the system achieves the video transmission function.This thesis provides an economic program for the video surveillance applications in petroleum wells, which possesses qualities of practicality and scalability. Because of the flexibility of modifying image processing algorithms, the DSP video capture system applies to occasions which demands for high quality of real-time. With the developing of technology and the growing of social demands, the system which is combined with real-time image transmission and network services will obtain an incomparable advantage. Thus, it is reasonable to believe that the video image capture and transmission system based on DSP will have a broad market prospect.
