Due to the existence of irregularities in track, when the train is running on the track, the irregularities will cause complex vibrations. In order to reduce the harmful vibrations, there must be spring suspension to moderate and attenuate the mechanical vibrations. Rolling stock spring suspension system’s role is mainly reflected in two aspects:First, make the mass of the vehicle and the load transmit more evenly to all axles, and ensure the vehicle couple steadily; second, alleviat attacking and vibration because of irregularity of the lines, rail joints, turnouts, abrasiveness of the rail and uneven subsidence. Spring suspension plays an important role in the steady running of rolling stock and safe operation through the smooth curve.As the spring design calculations are very complicated and require repeated checking, the calculation which needs to adjust the relevant parameters to meet installation space, structure, size, strength, stability, etc... is very troublesome. In this paper, the author use modern computer technology to develop computer-aided design program for spring, as a result, most troublesome calculations and checking work can be completed easier. Three dimensional CAD systems can reflect the design results visually. It provides facilitates for the rapid evaluation and optimization for the parametic design. Therefore, it’s necessary to develop a program to parameterized design for the spring suspension system.In the secondary suspension systems using helical spring structure, the spring is not only spring shock absorber, but also the relative elastic motion device between the body and the bogie in the horizontal plane. Therefore, the helical spring takes vertical loads, and at the same time it also needs to bear the load horizontally. Because of heavy workload, it is prone to damage. Its failures are in different ways. Fatigue fracture is a major failure in the form of spring break. To protect traffic safety, it is necessary to study its fatigue strength.Through analyzing the present situation of CAD application in rolling stock industry, the system in this paper uses the three-dimensional mechanical design software SolidWorks2007as the operating platform. Visual C++6.0is used as the development environment to carry on the secondary development of the characteristic parameters of the graphics program. Using the Visual C++database technology and interactive interface technology, the system established toolbar、menu bar and interactive dialog with the Windows operating style. Meanwhile a lot of information tips and fault tolerance are aded to the system, which makes the system easy to operate. This system is this paper based on analyzing and comparing various secondary development interfaces, considerding spring suspension’s character, seeks high efficiency and high speed. ATL COM Wizard is adopted to develop the plug-in of vehicle spring suspension system. Finite element software ANSYS and dynamics software SIMPACK are used to establish a dynamic model of the secondary suspension. Random load spectrum is extracted by the dynamic analysis of the CoCo locomotive. The fatigue life and safe reliability are predicted with FE-Safe software.This system plug produced in this paper can greatly reduce the design cycle of spring suspension system for rolling stock and improve the efficiency of product design cycle which has important academic value and engineering significance.
