As a leading serial bus or network for embedded control, CAN (Controller AreaNetwork) is a Multi-host local network developed by the Bosch Company which arewidely used in the modern automotive technology. Because of its extremely highreliability, unique nimble design, the inexpensive price and remarkable performance, the CAN bus has been widely applied in the industry, intelligent building controlling, community safety, transportation, medical service instrument and environmentalmonitoring. The rapid development of network technology and micro-controller drivesthe interconnection between the bus-based network and control technology. At thesame time, Ethernet has many advantages such as: versatility, suitability andcompatibility. So the study of the interconnection between the Ethernet and the CANbus, which can greatly facilitate the application of the CAN bus measurement andimprove the information exchange between the control layer and the upperinterconnection, has wide perspective and practability. In this thesis, A CAN network with Ethernet and wireless CAN interface wasdesigned, which contained a wired and wireless CAN-Ethernet gateway, wired CANnetwork and wireless CAN network. Microprocessor STC12C5A60S2was used as thecontroller in the gateway, Ethernet controller ENC28J60was connected to Ethernetthrough the RJ45connector adapter HR911105A, CAN interface chips were SJA1000and PCH82c250, single RF transceiver chip nRF2401was applied as wirelesscommunication module. The system structure of hardware and software werepresented, and finally testing system program showed that this system can transportdata with each other among Ethernet, wired CAN nodes, wireless CAN network. Inaddition, the μIP was ported on the MCU. The VB was used to write programs in orderto monitor the communication between CAN bus and Ethernet. This paper designed a wireless and wired CAN bus hybrid network with anEthernet interface, which expanded the CAN bus network application environmentsand achieved the connection between the CAN bus and the Ethernet. In this paper a reliable wireless transmission using a RF2401chip was also designed. In addition, anENC28J60chip with an Ethernet interface was constructed by using a simplified TCP/IP protocol and the μIP protocol. The PC test demonstrated that data can be exchangedbetween the CAN bus network and the Internet.
