Modeling and design of relief surface and CNC technology play an important role in people’s daily life and industry gradually. In this paper, the image-relief and geometry-relief are focused on study according to actual needs of the enterprises and the design of three-dimensional relief products. And the main achievements are as follows:The methods of image-relief modeling are as follows:Firstly, based on gray or depth images, an approach on image preprocessing. Secondly, another algorithm on the mapping relational model of gray to height is proposed, which creates more smooth relief than the previous algorithm. Thirdly, discrete height-field is fitted by B-spines surfaces. At last, relief-effects are proved through some examples.About geometry-relief modeling, based on plane geometry graphics, the calculation of the Voronoi diagram, storage of relief data, definition of relief surface are proposed, at the same time, relief with complex surface is present. Finally, an algorithm on smooth relief is effectively achieved.Using inverse tool offset and projection method, the generation of interference-free tool path for relief finish machining is achieved, which is particularly suitable for relief machining with small tools and is extendable to arbitrary shaped engraving tools.A large number of tests and practical applications have proved that the above algorithm in the dissertation is successful and the result is satisfying.
