Relief modelling and NC programming play an important role in the industy and people's life. In this paper, the technologies of relief sculpture CAD/CAM software system are studied according to the enterprises. And the main achievements are as follows.Firstly, based on plane geometry graphics, an approach on modeling artistic relief with complex surface is present. Secondly, another algorithm on sculpture surface modelling is proposed, which creates more smooth relief than the previous algorithm. Thirdly, an improved modification technology on photo-relief is developed. At last, photo-relief and geometry-relief modelling are applied together in one model throgh six different merging routines.The generation of tool path with no interference for relief machinning is studied, which is based on the data structure of Z-Map. A new spiral tool path which terminate consistently to the boundary is proposed with CL surface by ITO method. B-Spline is used to make the tool path be Cn continuous smooth. At last, tool paths are exported to NC engrave machine in HPGL format.Many tests and practical applications have proved that the research in the dissertation is successful and the result is satisfying.
