As a new display product, E-Book combines with the advantages of ordinary paper and electronic display technology. It has plenty of virtues, such as high resolution, low power, lightweight and thinness. After LCD display, the electrophoretic display is a new display technology which has broad application prospects. Electrophoretic display is convenient for carrying, flexible, and read comfortable. So it may be the future of display technology. The electrophoretic display (EPD) is considered to be the best candidate for E-Book.The work in this paper is a part "fast response, high stability of the microcapsules of electronic ink materials and their reality technology "of the863project. Our main work is focus on the studying of the driver-way of E-ink display. Then we design the electrophoretic display to verify the effect of this material. We design the static driver display first and get a good result. However, when it refers to high pixel driver, static driver has a fatal weakness that it needs too many lines and complex circuits. So we choose the active dynamic driver. We first do some tests working to investigate the electronic properties of this material. The test result shows that when we give it9V voltage, the contrast can be reached by4:1for blue-white two-color material and10.4:1for black-white two-color material. Then we use the MCU embedded technology to prepare microcapsule type electrophoresis display. This display uses blue-white two-color electronic ink material, which is developed by the department of polymer science of Zhejiang University. It was modified and based on the unique electrical properties of microcapsules of electronic ink material to get the display requirements refer to the traditional LCD display technology. We firstly study the unique electrical properties of microcapsules of electronic ink material and static driving techniques for matrix display. Then with the experiences gained, we finally realize the active driving and customized the driving waveforms for matrix display. This matrix display is composed of display controller and matrix display. According to the experiment result, this display performance is good.
