With the development and evolution of wireless communication and computer network technology, users’ movements have become more and more frequent, and the range of movements has also become larger. Requirements for mobile terminal to move and handover between multiple network administration domains appear clearer. Mobile IPv6 protocol and its related extension, as typical methods to realize inter-domain handover and movement for mobile terminal, involving problems such as high packet loss as well as update latency and complex signaling communication, together with support requirements for mobile terminal’s protocol stack. Meanwhile, methods to control handover and movement from network side appear which always need additional location management entity to support inter-domain handover for mobile terminal, leading to a limited scalability and compatibility and also a hard deployment. Realize a continuous inter-domain handover for mobile terminal and optimize the communicating process is one of the most important questions for research on inter-domain movement and handover control technology, which is also an important promise for promoting user’s mobile access.The thesis firstly introduced basic principles and main types of movement and handover technology, and analyzed typical methods to realize inter-domain handover and movement together with considering scenarios of user movements. Secondly, based on scenario that mobile terminal’s inter-domain handover between PMIPv6 administration domains, the thesis proposed a method which made use of a location anchor for caching data and a tunnel for forwarding data to support an optimized inter-domain handover and data forwarding path. Thirdly, the thesis designed the main modules and communicating process for the method and realized the signaling processing module, tunnel forwarding module data caching module and so on with NS-2 under Linux environment. Finally, through the building of simulation experiment environment, the thesis completed the performance test and compared and analyzed the related aspects of the performance for the inter-domain handover method.
