For CoMP which is a key technology of LTE-Advanced, multiple transmission points, which are separated geographically, serve a UE for data transmission or data reception coordinately so that Inter-cell interference can reduce, and system’s spectral efficiency, especially the spectral efficiency of cell-edge users, can increase. This thesis is around the research on high-level signaling supporting CoMP in LTE-Advanced.The main job of the thesis can be summarized as follows:1) In the situation of CoMP, it may be the cooperating eNB, not the service eNB that is closest to the UE, so the signal from the cooperating eNB will arrive at UE before the start time of CP, and inter-symbol interference will appear. For this issue, this thesis proposes a good solution called cooperating set based downlink synchronization method.2) In order to make use of "CoMP", and improve the cell-edge users’access performance, this thesis introduces an improved scheme for random access in CoMP. It makes the cell-edge users get differential treatment in terms of random access performance. Also, it improves the success rate and delay of random access.3) By surveying the research achievement related to signaling for CoMP, it is known that there is only a little simple research on CoMP signaling. This thesis researches and designes detailed signaling processes for CoMP activation stage, CoMP data transfer stage and CoMP deactivation stage. In addition to this, this thesis also discusses the influence brought by the above signaling processes to the high-level protocols in LTE.
