With the frequent international exchange of information and the development of domestic economy and process of democratization, the modern conferencing system is highly demanded. Compared with traditional conferencing system, advanced audio/video processing technologies, information communication technologies, computer control management technologies are applied to intelligent digital conferencing system nowadays, and central control subsystem, terminal device subsystem, multimedia subsystem and network access subsystem are integrated. In this thesis, a powerful and user-friendly conferencing terminal device is designed and implemented, which is based on detailed analysis for intelligent digital conferencing system and embedded technology. The following work has been finished in this thesis:(1) Analyzed the requirements, architecture and management of intelligent digital conferencing system and a programming model between server and terminal was provided, some related key technologies were introduced.(2) Finished the environment setup of terminal device:in hardware aspect, the ARM9 chip S3C2440 was chosen as CPU, UDA1341 as sound device and DM9003 as network device to connect all terminals; in software aspect, detailed the transplantation processes for Uboot, embedded Linux kernel and Yaffs2 file system and also emphatically introduced sound driver development in Linux.(3) Designed and implemented the application software for terminal. Analyzed the implementation processes of eight function (Registration, Discussion control, Vote control, Interpretation selection, Service calling, Intercommunication, Document sharing, System setting), emphatically described the programming for handling audio data and network data; also a GUI system was established using the QtE technology and a distance configuration system was implemented based webpage. (4) Summarized the research content. Conclusions indicate that the terminal implemented in this thesis has finished all the requirements of modern intelligent digital conferencing system. And the shortages about real-time and connection model are pointed out which should be the research direction in the future.This thesis implemented a whole solution for conferencing terminal device. The results provide high reference value for constructing more powerful digital conferencing systems.
