Transformer take on the responsibility of converting voltage and transferring energy in power system, which is the part and parcel of energy equipment. But the transformer may be subjected to collision and suffered by the short-circuit inevitably in the transportation or long term usage, which may cause winding deformation. Research shows that transformer winding deformation is one of the most common faults of transformer, which threaten the safe operation of the power grid seriously. Therefore, it need to find out the causes and study the detecting and diagnosis measures for winding deformation. It’s helpful for us to detect the problems earlier and take preventive measures timely and effectively. It’s important to reduce the accidents and extend the service life of transformer.In this thesis, taking“Transformer Winding Deformation Tester”as the research content, the author improved the transformer winding deformation testing system based on the old testing method, and then did the further research of the principle and method for this subject.This thesis contains six chapters. The first chapter described the background and research significance of this subject, analysed the merits and defects of diagnosis methods which used at present, and then introduced the research status of Frequency Response Analysis. The second chapter gave some related knowledge of the transformer, include the classification and structure of transformer, the reason of deformation and the principle of Frequency Response Analysis. The third chapter introduced the development of the transformer winding deformation testing system which based on C8051F, included the design of signal generating module, data acquisition module and communication module, and used the Root Mean Square converting circuit to replace the high-speed data acquisition circuit in data acquisition module. The fourth chapter introduced the software of the system and gave a method named Feature Difference Index Analysis method, which can judge the winding deformation accurately. The fifth chapter analysed the error of inproved system, and gave the experimental data to prove it. The sixth chapter is conclusion and outlook, the main content of this thesis and the future development were shown.This testing system includes test equipment and PC two parts. First, the relevant information of transformer winding is collected by test equipment,and then it is uploaded to the PC for processing, calculation and analysis. The result can indicate whether the winding deformed and the deformation degree. This testing system provides a reference for carrying out further research of the deformation diagnosis of transformer winding ,and it has a good prospect.
