Digital publishing is an on-going profound and far-reaching publishingrevolution. Blunt are those concerned, however, some issues are difficult to beuntangled, among which is the content production mode of e-books. Thisthesis tries to find a way to answer this question by looking back into thehistory firstly, then looking forward to the future, and finally come back to now.Taking publication history review as the penetrate point and therelationship between technological progress and publication vicissitude as theobjective point, this thesis notes that both have a common end: globalknowledge integration. Taking this as the stance, the thesis analyzes thecontent production mode of e-books in 3 aspects, based on the contentproduction mode of paper books. The final part of this thesis is the conclusion. The Introduction mentions that there were "butterfly effects" in thepublishing history, thus a thing-in-itself method is not enough in research. Aresearcher must broaden his/her horizons and jump out of small circles, andconcern with respect to the social phenomenon in connection with publishing.Chapter I describes the subject background, objectives and contents, related concepts, research methods and research significance, and finally, generalization and summation of relevant research results completed bypredecessors.Chapter II stresses on content production and production mode, reviewsthe overall technological progress impacts on publication vicissitude. Theconclusion is that the relationship between them is like an upward spin, andeventually reaches "global knowledge integration" as their common end.In Chapter III, this thesis describes the content production mode of paperbooks, including its aim, main body, object, preparation, tools, technology andprocess of production. Based on the analysis in Chapter III, in Chapter IV, this thesis analyzesthree content production modes of e-books: the "mosaic" mode, the "readingnutrition" mode and the "knowledge nutrition" mode. Then, this thesis analyzesPeople’s Military Medical Press as a case study, followed by a shortsummering-up.Finally, in the last chapter, this thesis illustrates the core values anddeveloping directions of the publishing industry after general analyze. The final conclusion: all media forms (including books) of content industryare the extensions of man, and their ultimate direction is "global knowledgeintegration". E-books supply deep, rational and systematic knowledge. Withthe help of digital publishing technologies, e-books will play a role of greatimportance in this process. The study is expected to guide content productionof e-books. However, the concepts of“reading nutrition”and“knowledgenutrition”are imperfect and deserve further study.
