As the rapid expansion of optical networking, WDM technology is applied more and more widely. So the production craftsmanship of WDM is also very important. At present, the craftsmanship is applied to the production, but the research of the technological conditions is simplex. So the rate of qualified product is low in production. To solve this problem, we study the every parameter that can affect the performance of WDM.Firstly this paper introduces the substance, development and use of WDM and some common wavelength division multiplexing technologies.In the second chapter, it introduces the optical waveguide theory in the fiber.The third chapter introduces the coupled mode theory including the theory of strong fusing and weak fusing and analyses the thermodynamic theory during the bused biconical taper. It introduces the impact of different coupling region geometry on isolation.The fourth chapter introduces the instrument and fused taper WDM production process and performance testing in detail.The fifth chapter is the emphasis. It studies the every parameter that can affect the performance of WDM including channel spacing, isolation and excess loss.In the last chapter, we deduce the performance of producing the1310/1550WDM from the fourth chapter.
