With the developing of information technology, the digital multimedia technology has been concerned and studied more and more. Advanced technologies, such as the integration of broadcasting television network, telecom network and Internet, the Converged Communications (Computer, Communication and Consumer Electronics), the smart family system, et al, extend the applications of digital multimedia technology. How to acquire the high-speed and realtime digital video/audio information is a relative key technology.SOPC(System on Programmable Chip) as a flexible and efficient solution of SOC is proposed by Altera company, which is a new technology of hardware/software co-designing. In this dissertation, an embedded system for digital video/audio acquisition and playback is designed based on SOPC technology. The system can acquire, save and replay the high-speed and realtime digital video/audio information. Firstly, the relevant knowledge of the digital video/audio and the embedded system based on SOPC are introduced. Next, the design scheme of the system is putted forward. The system is mainly composed of a video/audio data acquisition module, an embedded processor module, a data storage module, a video/audio playback module and other modules. The hardware platform of the system is constructed by a Cyclone Ⅱ FPGA configured Nios Ⅱ soft core CPU, video/audio decode chips, auxiliary memory, a stereo interface, a VGA display interface and other peripheral devices. The function modules of system are designed by Verilog-HDL. At last design software project under Niso Ⅱ IDE to control the system. At the end, the FPGA physical verification of board level is designed for the test and verification of the system. In order to expedite the process of debugging, Altera SignalTap Ⅱ is used to capture the internal signal of FPGA. The experimental results show that the system achieves the design requirements.
