People are attaching more importance to information secrecy nowadays. In the transmission process of video signal, how to do encryption has been a researchful issue. SOPC system has particular advantages on treating with digital video signal in view of its unexampled ascendancy. This paper is a design of hardware and software of a digital video signal encryption system base on SOPC.This design makes the best use of Altera's latest solution of SOPC-taking NiosII embed soft-core processor as a core to carry out such functions as collection-input, encryption and display-output of digital video signal. The article introduces digital video and SOPC system detailedly first, then expatiates hardware design and software design of the whole system respectively. To carry out the structure of hardware environment by describing configuration and function of each hardware part of system, especially three main function modules. The principle of encryption to video signal stored in system memorizer is also given out as well as the programme code of actualizing concretely multiple encryptions based on knight patrol and Arnold transform. And to debug and run the software on the constructed hardware platform in order to satisfy the function demand of the system. At last the article points out the existent disadvantage of the system and the expansive development foreground.
