With the rapid development of the modern Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), geographic information technology, satellite positioning technology and modern communication technology play huge roles in resolving urban intelligent traffic. As a core part of the Intelligent Transportation System, the vehicle navigation system plays more and more important role in enhancing road transport capacity and improving traffic conditions. This article takes the vehicle navigation system as a research background, collects and separates the GPS positioning data, then combine with the electronic map and map-matching techniques, designs and realized an map matching algorithm based on key intersection, and will showed matched the data on the electronic map, that will improve the accuracy, timeliness and stability of vehicle navigation system.This article studies on the map matching algorithm of the GPS vehicle navigation system systematically, then designs a rational and efficient map-matching algorithm. The main tasks of the article are as follows:(1) Describe the structure, positioning principles and error factors of the GPS system;(2) Use the MSComm Control to complete the collection and separation of the GPS serial data; Analysis the spatial structure base and design principle of the electronic map database;(3) Review current map-matching algorithm which is commonly used, pointing out their advantages and disadvantages and putting forward a corresponding improvement method; Proposed a map matching algorithm based on critical cross-point, focusing on the error region searching and the calculation of the adaptive weighting factor of critical cross-point;(4) Complete the programming and simulation of the algorithm by using the Visual C++and Mapx Control; Compare this algorithm with experimental results of the direct projection, analyze the performance of the algorithm;(5) Summarize the research result of the thesis and prospects for further work.
