Pulse compression theory and clutter suppression are being played an important role in the design of radar system. Generally, pulse compression radar must have a wide emission pulse to increase detection range, but it must have narrower echo pulse to get higher resolution. Apparently, the radar detection range and target range resolution is contradictory, and pulse compression solves the contradiction effectively. When radar detects the moving targets, the received signals include the target echo signal and the clutter signal generated from the scattering of surface features, clouds and other objects. Sometimes, the clutter signal is stronger than the target echo signal, and then affects the ability of radar target detection. Therefore, clutter suppression is the key to improve the ability of target detection in cluttered area. In pulse compression signals, linear FM signal and phase encoding signal are used widely. Now, we only research phase encoding signal in this dissertation. The phase-encoded signal has a good anti-interference ability and high tracking accuracy, is widely used in radar systems. Furthermore, the target echo signal is also important part of the radar system. From the echo signal, we can get the distance, location and other information of the target. In this dissertation, radar phase encoded signal and target echo signal are mainly researched, and the simulations of the two signals are realized by ADS software. Firstly, according to the principle of pulse compression, the pulse compression of barker code is simulated by ADS software. The compression waveform of13bits barker code is generated, and pulse pressure characteristics are analyzed. Meanwhile, the compression waveforms of7bits and5bits barker codes are simulated. Through the comparison of the pulse compression waveforms, the relation of code length and characters is proved. Then, two target echo signal is simulated based on ADS software. The distance from the target to the transmitter and the distance between the two goals are both obtained by calculating. Finally, through simulating the target azimuth tracking, the azimuth of the target in the antenna scanning figure is got. In addition, the radiation pattern of radar antenna is also simulated.
