Research And Application Of Embedded Wireless Home Gateway

With the development of the Internet of things and the combination of the traditional broadcast networks, the Internet, the communication network, led to the development of the household electronics products. The automation of individual appliances can not meet the needs of people now. Smart home has become the new trend in home consumer market in China. Home gateway as a core component of the smart home, has become the key to seize the smart home market. Existing gateway design has many shortcomings, such as large energy consumption, high cost, trouble network cabling and is not suitable for using at home. Therefore, this design use the ARM processor as a hardware platform and the Linux system as a software platform, coupled with ZigBee and CGI technology to design a wireless home gateway for ordinary home use.Porting Linux operating system and embedded Web server to the ARM processor. Users can log in the server through the external network in any place. They can send management or control information in the form of menu. These information will be obtain by the CGI program working on the Web server. CGI program will convert the information into a frame that can be transmitted on the family internal local area network. Family internal local area network is constituted by the wireless transceiver modules of ZigBee and smart appliances. A wireless sensor network formed by a coordinator connecting to the ARM prcessor and a number of terminal nodes connecting to the smart appliances. CGI program send the converted frame to the coordinator, and the coordinator will control the appliances base on the content of the frame.This design combines the embedded technology and ZigBee technology and solves the shortcomings of the past designs. It is a design with practical significance and suitable for ordinary family to ues.
