With the development of the times and the industry of communications, telecommunication network, Internet and cable networks integration has become an inevitable trend. Triple play not only refers to the integration of network, but also involves technology fusion and business amalgamation, etc. Therefore, VOD system, as a representative of the digital TV interactive business and data business will be developed and deployed by the cable operators. But along with the promotion of cable HDTV interactive business and the expansion of business operation scale, all kinds of resources which are involved in will be fully deployed and used. But now, the use of resources in the interactive system is only limited to one specific interactive business. The interactive system also can’t share the resources among different business. At the same time, because of the increasingly huge resources quantity and the lack of special management components, so that resources will not be used effectively and reasonably in the system. This thesis is a solution, based on NGOD framework, which is in order to solve the problems of the resource sharing, distribution, management and service discovery.The objectives of this solution are two kinds of most important resources which are needed for interactive services:streaming server resources and edge resources. The design and implementation of the system is benefited from two functional components of VOD system. One is On Demand Resource Manager, and the other is Edge Resource Manager. They are responsible for discovery, management and distribution of those two resources respectively. The realization of the resource management component includes the protocol stack realization, external interface realization and the internal business process realization. Protocol stack realized two main protocols which are involved in the system:RTSP and VREP. External interface realized R interface which is related to the resource and D interface which is related to discovery and register. Internal business process realized the response of the session request and made reasonable distribution of resources in view of session needs.If the functions, such as the management, distribution and discovery of the resources can be lifted out of session control, and to work as single function components, and then to manage and find different resources equipment respectively. To assign resources which the user needs by processing session request, it can make the management and use of device resource more reasonable. Adjusting the resource management component to be compatible with session request of multiple businesses can achieve resource sharing among businesses.
